(Fort Lauderdale) – You drink it. You bath in it. You cook with it. But do you ever THINK about it?

Drinking Water Week is May 5-11, 2013. Each year, Drinking Water Week provides an opportunity to recognize the vital role water plays in our lives. This year, with drought, development and population growth, we’re reminded that our groundwater and surface water resources are limited. The need to protect and preserve our most valuable natural resource is even more critical.

The Broward Water Partnership, which includes Broward County and 17 local governments and water utilities, is asking for your help! The Partnership set a goal to save 30 million gallons of water per day by providing rebates and other free incentives to qualifying residents. So, are you eligible?

Older model toilets can be huge water-wasters, accounting for up to 35 percent of the average household’s water consumption. If your toilets were installed before 1994, there’s a good chance they’re guilty as charged. For a limited time, you could receive a rebate of up to $100 for each old toilet you replace with a new, water-saving model. The immediate savings are impressive, but the long-term benefits are infinite.

You may also qualify to receive free, low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators. To reduce water use in commercial kitchens, qualified businesses can receive free, pre-rinse spray valves.

Rebates are offered on WaterSense® High Efficiency Toilets (HETs) using 1.28 gallons of water per flush (gpf) or less. Eligible applicants must reside within the program area and be replacing toilets that use more than 1.6 gpf. Homes, businesses and nonprofits are all encouraged to apply. Pre-approval is required and other restrictions may apply.

So think while you drink your water. Apply for a rebate or take the pledge to save water today!

To check your eligibility and apply for a rebate, visit www.ConservationPays.com.

Broward Water Partner’s encourage residents to save water, saving money

(Fort Lauderdale) – Earth Day is April 22. This day is reserved for us to reflect on the many issues impacting Earth and the environment. One of the most important issues is the protection of one of our most valuable resources: water. We use it daily, but too often, we take it for granted.

Earth Day reminds us to be more resourceful. There are many ways you can save water without even having to think about it—from your bathroom to your kitchen, to your own backyard.

You can start by replacing old, inefficient toilets that use more than 1.6 gallons of water per flush (gpf) with High Efficiency Toilets (HETs) using 1.28 gpf or less. These new high-tech toilets flush much better than the older models and save water and money in the process!

The Broward Water Partnership, which includes Broward County and 17 local governments and water utilities, is encouraging conservation by offering rebates of up to $100 each on WaterSense® HETs. Homes, businesses and nonprofits are all encouraged to apply. Pre-approval is required and other restrictions may apply.

You may also qualify to receive free, low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators. To reduce water use in commercial kitchens, qualified businesses can receive free, pre-rinse spray valves. Just another way to install and save without having to think twice!

Outdoor conservation is very important, too. If you live in Broward County, you should follow your community’s permanent conservation methods. Irrigating your lawn no more than twice per week (not between the prohibited hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.) will ensure that you’re being efficient while still enjoying a healthy, green lawn!

You can find additional tips on how to care for your landscape and realize water savings by visiting NatureScape Broward at www.Broward.org/NaturalResources/NatureScape/Pages/Default.aspx

To apply for a rebate and see what other devices may be available to you, visit www.ConservationPays.com.

So, on Earth Day, and every day, show your appreciation of our precious water resources by saving some.

Learn How to Conserve at Broward County’s Annual Water Matters Day Event

(Davie) – Each year, Broward County hosts a community celebration to recognize one of Earth’s most valuable resources: water. Water Matters Day is part of the countywide effort to educate residents on the importance of conservation. On Saturday, March 9, residents are encouraged to attend the festivities to learn indoor conservation tips, landscape best management practices and to receive information about rebates and incentives for upgrading to water-conserving devices.

Meanwhile, there are lots of ways to start saving water today. Residents can begin by applying for a rebate to receive up $100 back on the purchase of a High Efficiency Toilet that uses 1.28 gallons of water per flush (gpf) or less. Toilets using more than 1.6 gpf are wasting water and money. By replacing them, it can lower monthly utility bills while reducing our community’s overall water use.

The Broward Water Partnership, a collaboration of Broward County and 17 other governments and water utilities, is offering the rebates to homes, businesses and nonprofits in the participating communities. Through rebates and other incentives, the Partnership plans to save 30 million gallons of water annually.

Some communities are also providing free, low-flow faucet aerators and showerheads. Businesses with kitchen sinks may qualify to receive pre-rinse spray valves.

Over 40 vendors are expected to exhibit at Water Matters Day. Participants can receive free native plants or trees by visiting 12 or more of the display booths. The event is held at Tree Tops Park in Davie located at 3900 SW 100th Avenue. Activities begin at 9 a.m. and run through 3 p.m.

Join us at Water Matters Day, but begin conserving today! Because water matters every day.

To see if you’re eligible for the rebates and incentives, visit ConservationPays.com/Apply. Or, call 1-800-270-9794 for more information.

You can also read testimonials from others who have participated in the rebate program by visiting ConservationPays.com/WeeklyWaterSaver.

Broward Water Partner’s residents saving water and money

(Fort Lauderdale) – Florida is surrounded by water. Most people wouldn’t think there’s a shortage of freshwater. But, the reality is, there is. World Water Day is March 22, observed to direct attention on the importance of water by advocating for sustainable management of limited freshwater resources. Today, make a commitment to protecting this precious resource by saving some.

The Broward Water Partnership, a collaboration of Broward County and 17 other governments and water utilities, is encouraging the community to conserve through education and by providing incentives to save. For a limited time, homeowners in participating communities can receive rebates of up to $100 each on new, water-conserving toilets.

With a toilet guzzling more than 1.6 gallons of water per flush (gpf), chances are users are sending money down the drain, too. By replacing it with a WaterSense® high-efficiency toilet, owners save water, money and help protect the environment. Yes—all in the privacy of the bathroom! But this doesn’t just apply to homeowners. Businesses and nonprofits can also receive rebates.

The process is easy: check to see if your community is participating. Then, make sure your current toilet uses more than 1.6 gpf. Next, you’ll want to apply online or print out the application and mail it in. Wait for your approval, and then purchase your shiny, new toilet. Once it’s installed, take a photo, submit your receipts and documentation and receive your rebate check within weeks!

Some communities are providing free low-flow faucet aerators and showerheads, too. For businesses with commercial kitchen sinks, pre-rinse spray valves are being offered.

Join the movement on World Water Day by saving some, because every day, every drop counts.

To read testimonials from others who have participated in the program, visit: ConservationPays.com/WeeklyWaterSaver. Check to see if you’re eligible, then apply today by visiting ConservationPays.com/Apply. Or, call 1-800-270-9794 for more information.
